Utah's Students Deserve Better
Our public schools are under pressure, and the Utah State Board of Education has spent too much of the last several years fighting culture wars instead of supporting the students and educators who show up every single day.
James Martin has been a kindergarten teacher. A principal. A union rep. A USBE specialist. He's sat in IEP meetings, walked school hallways, and advocated for Utah educators in Washington D.C. He knows what good education policy looks like, and unfortunately the current Board has drifted from it.
It's time to put students first, trust our teachers, and lead with equity.

Priorities
Trust TeachersUtah's educators are skilled professionals. James will champion teacher voice and push back on a Board culture of micromanagement and blame.

Center EquityEvery student deserves to see themselves in their education. James will fight to restore equity — for students of color, students with disabilities, and multilingual learners — at the heart of every Board decision.

Protect the ArtsJames has led Wasatch Theatre Company for nearly 30 years. He knows firsthand what arts programming means to students. He will be its loudest defender on the Board.
